I am a professional physio-trainer, yoga teacher and Pilates instructor. I have taught extensively in Kauai, California, Baja Sur in Mexico and Boston, where I currently reside.  With more than 30 years of experience, I have worked with individuals and groups from all fitness levels, ranging from beginners to Olympic athletes. Drawing from Pilates, conditioning, Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga, I specialize in working with people recovering from injuries or have undergone major surgeries. I am certified by the National Academy for Sports Medicine (NASM) and I have studied yoga for more than 35 years with senior Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga masters such as Tim Miller, Chuck Miller and Mary Ezraty, Aadil Palkilava, Tias Little, David and Doug Swenson, Rama Jyoti Vernon, John Schumacher, Rodney Yee and Richard Freeman, among others.

My Personal Story and Movement Philosophy

I have always been fascinated with movement and the body. My journey began as a teenager doing yoga casually. During college, while doing nursing studies, I fell in love with running and got into competitor ultramarathons (50-100 Miles) ending a few times among the top 10 runners nationally.

As a young adult, I had a horse related roping insure resulting with more than 10 hand surgeries that took me years to recover from. Then in 2005, while living in Mammoth Lakes mountains in California, I had a backcountry skiing accident which caused severe injuries to my neck and spine. This personal experience with injuries was my entryway to the world of adaptive movement and rehabilitation. Techniques from yoga and pilates literally saved me as the doctors kept telling me that I wouldn’t be able to get back to my active lifestyle. I gained strength from the millennial teachings of yoga to get back on track and because of that I spent a good part of my career working with people recovering from injuries including Olympic skiers and snowboarders, side by side with physical therapists and orthopedic surgeons. I believe that the body is able to create compensatory patterns which are key for change. Between yoga, pilates, physical therapy, conditioning and trial and error, a lot can come and progress can be made.

As you might have guessed by now, Yoga is my passion. What I love about it is the infinite possibilities. Very early on, I found it contained more ways to experience movement than running, biking, swimming and weight training. I loved being able to see in myself and in my students the incredible capacities to grow, change and heal and I look forward to sharing that experience with you!
